Welsh-language Magazine Grants

Grants for Welsh-language magazines and a digital news service are awarded every four years through competitive tender processes, and they are open to new and existing applicants. The amount available for the funding period depends on the level of funding received from Welsh Government. There are two grant schemes available: one for Magazines and one for a Digital Welsh-language News Service. Guidelines and Terms and Conditions are published when the application process is open.

Magazines

This scheme aims to ensure that a wide variety of lively, high-quality Welsh-language magazines are published for children, young people and adults, containing good writing, quality journalism, reviews and discussion on a variety of topics. The next funding round will be for the 2027–31 provision and the tender process for that round will take place during 2026.

Digital News Service

This grant is awarded every four years to support a digital Welsh-language news service. The next funding round will be for the 2026-30 provision and the tender process for that round will take place during 2025.

These grants are awarded every four years. Application material, including Guidelines and Terms & Conditions will be published on the New Funding Opportunities and Tenders page when the tender processes open.

This will also include details of the timescale and requirements for each stage of the process. Typically, tenders have a number of stages, with both written submissions and interview elements.
