Visits to schools

We can provide advice and assistance to help teachers choose new books for learners that inspire reading for pleasure and support the delivery of the Curriculum for Wales.

We offer visits to primary, secondary and special schools to display books and educational materials and collect orders. These visits help teachers and librarians to keep up to date with the latest books and resources to support them in the classroom.

You can find information about the books available on our sales website, ffolio.wales (opens in new tab) and we can offer guidance and advice to schools that wish to order online.

Supporting your local bookshop

All school orders, whether made online or in person, are processed through a local bookshop of your choice, helping your school to support your local bookshop and community.

To arrange a school visit, contact our Education Officer at shoned.davies@books.wales (opens email).

Support for teachers

Our Department of Children’s Books and Reading Promotion has created a wide range of resources for schools, to support teachers and encourage learners to read. We can offer advice on suitable reading lists, arranging author tours and how to make the most of special book events like World Book Day.

Reading inspiration

Our Teachers Love Reading programme works with teaching professionals to help them nurture their own love of reading, so that they can then inspire their pupils to do the same. Registration for the 2026-27 programme opens in June.

Teachers Love Reading

We run reading promotion campaigns, often alongside libraries and with other partners, to inspire a love of reading and help make books available for everyone.
