Support for Libraries

Bookshelves and a bench in a library.

Sales and orders

Our sales team are here to help you and can provide information on the latest books available, collect orders, and offer advice on relevant titles for your area. If you’d like to arrange a visit, you can contact the sales team at sales@books.wales (opens in email) or call us on 01970 624455.

You can also search for information about all the books available on the Books Council’s database or order online at Gwales Shop (opens in new tab).

Orders are processed through an independent bookshop of the library’s choice, which helps you to support independent bookshops and your local high street.

Stars of the Shelves

The Stars of the Shelves scheme was set up for children to meet authors in creative workshops, to spark their imagination and inspire reading. It also aimed to provide more opportunities for schools and libraries to bring children out of the classroom and into their local library.

The scheme was funded by Welsh Government Culture Division and coordinated by the Books Council of Wales.

Author visits

Take a look at our Directory of Authors and Illustrators (PDF), which is updated regularly and contains details of children’s authors who offer school and library visits. We can also suggest suitable authors for your event and local area – if you’d like a chat about this, drop us a line at wbc.children@books.wales (opens email).

Campaigns

We run reading promotion campaigns, often alongside libraries and with other partners, to inspire a love of reading and help make books available for everyone.
