Trustees
Our Board of Trustees is responsible for the governance of the Books Council, ensuring that we meet and maintain our objectives as a CIO as set out in our Constitution. The Board of Trustees meets four times a year. Board members serve for fixed terms of four years and can serve two consecutive terms.
Subcommittees
Three independent subcommittees support our work. The two Publishing Development Subcommittees (Welsh-language and English-language) play a crucial role as the independent panels that award grants to publishers. They meet several times a year, in person or online, as required.
The Reading Promotion Subcommittee has an advisory role and supports the work of the Children’s Books and Reading Promotion department. It meets twice a year, usually online. Subcommittee members serve for fixed terms of four years and can serve two consecutive terms.
We are also very grateful to the many members of our judging panels and advisory groups such as the Tir na n-Og judges and the members of the Young People’s Panel.
